Howdy, my name is Jacob King. I am 5-11 184 lbs. I have brown hair & brown eyes.  I live in a little blink and you missed it town called Opp, AL which now has a by-pass built around it. For all those that might be wondering, I am S I N G L E presently. I am currently 24 years old, my birthday is January 4. I graduated from Straughn High School in May 2002 & from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College with an Associate in Science Degree in August 2005. I am currently attending Kaplan University Online pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology: Network Administration.  I am also holding down a job with J & M Enterprises Inc. where I am a security guard. I have two cats named Febe & Nuisance - really only Nuisance claims me. I was on the Red Holland Show® Friday July 20, 2001 (a day that I will not forget) from 5:00AM till 6:00AM (pics below). I recently acquired my Amateur Radio License. You can find me on the local 2 meter nets at anytime of the day that I am not asleep. The frequency that I am mostly on is the Opp Amateur Radio Club Repeater (W4ORC) located at 146.640 MHz, but I can be found on the South Alabama Radio Club Repeater (WC4M) located at 147.260 MHz too. Recently, I got me a HF rig & upgraded my radio license to Amateur Extra which is the highest class. Also I got the antenna and tower erected. So now you could find me on the HF nets and gosh knows anywhere else on the bands. The latest news is that Field Day got me inspired to join the amateur radio digital world of PSK31. It has been a blast so far.

I am a proud member of:
*SKYWarn (Storm Spotter)
*ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service)
*RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service)
*SARC (South Alabama Radio Club)
*OARC (Opp Amateur Radio Club)
*ARRL (Amateur Radio Relay League)
*ARRL VEs (Amateur Radio Relay League Volunteer Examiners ~ I can administer amateur radio tests)

I guess you could say that I like helping & the involvement with people :). Just like the ARRL logo says: "When all else fails...Amateur Radio." You just would not believe how busy one can get during severe weather or a crisis with assistance to the local authorities. It is cool to work with the Police, Rescue, the NWS (National Weather Service), and others out in the field & know that you are making a difference somehow.
